Veenendaal’s library has won second place in the Best Library of 2011 competition. The prize was presented on 27 October in the Beatrix Theatre in Utrecht by Bibliotheekblad, the professional journal of the public libraries.
The editors of Bibliotheekblad were enthusiastic about the library in Veenendaal and wrote the following on their website: ‘The library building, designed by Jos van Eldonk and opened to the public in 2010, was built on the foundations of the former Hollandia wool factory and positively radiates quality. The visitors, young and old, gaze in awe at the architecture and love the many reading and working nooks provided in this brand new library.’
