Sjoerd Soeters established his architectural firm in 1979, together with his wife, Merle Soeters-Stefels. At that time, his firm was located in their home on Prinsengracht in Amsterdam.

Ten years later the firm outgrew that location, and the Baptist church located at Kerkstraat 204 in Amsterdam was rebuilt and put into use. Jos van Eldonk entered the partnership in 1997, after which the firm was called ‘Soeters Van Eldonk architects’. Today, the Board of Directors is formed by the two partners and one executive.

The partnership of Soeters Van Eldonk architects currently employs approximately 50 people. The firm is located in the centre of Amsterdam and has had two extensions over the last 10 years of which the last finished in May 2002.
